There are a lot of plumbers that still use the older Electric Eel (also known as a plumbers snake or a drain snake) method today and only few that use a High Pressure Water Jetter, but which is the better choice to clear a blocked drain this is a common question asked when a blocked drain or clogged drain becomes a problem. In this article we will compare the two based on time, cost and effectiveness.

The first Electric Eel or Drain Snake was invented in 1933, it works by a motor spinning a steel cable with a cutting head attached to the end. The cable is fed into the pipes chewing and mashing whatever it comes in contact with, however the further the head is away from the plumber the more uncontrollable it becomes.

The High Pressure Water Jetter is far newer technology it pumps water at roughly 5000 psi which is strong enough to cut tree roots. The Water Jetters consists of a motor which pushes water through the water hose and finally out of the head which has an outlet on the front to clear the way and multiple outlets behind it facing all directions which clean the pipes and propel the Water Jetter through the pipe.

Time:
The time it takes can vary depending on depending on the depth of the blockage and how bad the blockage is. Some badly blocked drains have taken up to 8 hours to clear with an Electric Eel.

The Water Jetter is much faster in terms of clearing the blockage the average time to clear a blockage is 30-45 minutes.

Quality:
When an Electric Eel clears a blocked drain or clogged drain it often leaves behind tree roots and debris because it does not fit the pipe diameter perfectly, this can lead to waste and debris getting stuck on the uncleared roots and debris. The negative side to the Electric Eel is that when the cable spins the cutting heads they thrash around in the pipe banging and hitting the pipe walls chipping, cutting and cracking them leading to further damage and can lead to collapsed pipes. An Electric Eel will lose its effectiveness the further it travels into a pipe usually after 20 metres an Electric Eel is no longer effective.

The Water Jetter clears pipes incredibly effectively, clearing tree roots effectively from the pipe so well that you can no longer see them with a drain camera. The Water Jetter also cleans the walls of the pipe washing away old waste, debris, fats, oils and anything that has built up on the pipe walls. The Water Jetter can travel up to 60 metres (180 feet) and maintains its effectiveness right to the end which is long enough to clear the majority of residential, commercial and industrial buildings.

Cost:
The costs involved to get a pipe cleared with an Electric Eel are usually higher because it can take a fair amount of time to clear a blocked drain depending on the depth of the blockage and how bad the blockage is. More time equals more money.

The cost involved to get a pipe cleared with a Water Jetter will always be cheaper than an Electric Eel because of the time involved. The Water Jetter clears blocked drains much quicker than an Electric Eel so you won’t be paying hours and hours of labour.

Overall the High Pressure Water Jetter is a smarter choice based on quality, cost and time. Unfortunately the Electric Eel or Drain Snake is becoming obsolete; it was much better back in the day when all we had was a steel wire with a hook on the end to clear the drain. When the Electric Eel became available people stopped using the less effective and older method. The High Pressure Water Jetter is the newest and most effective tool in the industry today. So if in the unlucky event you do get a blocked drain or clogged drain make sure you hire a licensed plumber fully equipped it will save you time and money giving you piece of mind and convenience.

Blocked Drain Cleaning – Electric Eels

Plumbing is the basic and necessary need to construct modular house and building. Now-a-days modular house and building are the significance of the high society. So, different types of plumbing supplies are available in the market to overcome the necessity of good house. Plumbing is not really about repair and fixing the pipes, these are just a part of it. Any buyer presently wants a good plumbing supplies and pipe connections at newly purchased home.

Plumbing supplies are the business of repairing, fixing and casting the pipes. Presently, using of a new product of plumbing supply is the significance of living in modern era. Now, many old products of plumbing supply have been changed in new products regarding manufacturing process and designing process, i.e., old metallic pipes are now changed in a plastic pipes.

Without proper plumbing supply, we cannot design modular home and building. But the problem is that what kind of plumbing is the best. Here, I will tell you the basic tips that how can you get the best plumbing supply. The points are given below:

Consult a good professional and experienced plumber.

All the plumbing goods are available in the market in different design, quality and rates. Always buy plumbing goods those are comfortable with you.

Keep a map of your home and building where you want to fit plumbing goods.

Always hire a professional plumber who has skills to install and repair plumbing goods at your house and building.

Most of the people try to save their money and using low price and low quality products. I highly suggest you that do not do this at your home otherwise you will make things worse rather than making them better. Always try that plumbing goods are comfortable with you and your requirements. So it is a better option that before buying plumbing goods; Check either they suit your requirements or not and this is my opinion never compromise with the quality of product.

Finding discounted plumbing equipment is not a hard work. For this, you should start monitoring from the plumbing store nearest to your home. Use web services and local yellow pages also to find out the cheaper plumbing devices.

Author is an online marketer in the Ireland based company.

This is a brief description of the types and properties of typical materials used for water service lines. As plastics are not typically approved in NYC they have been deliberately omitted. Knowing the type and properties of your water line can help determine the condition of the service and whether repairs or a replacement is required.

Lead – Lead water main lines

Lead has not been an approved material for water main services in over 60 years. Lead in drinking water does not occur naturally; it does not come from rivers, reservoirs, etc. If lead is present in a house supply system it typically emanates from the main distribution system or house plumbing.

There are various services that test for lead inexpensively. If a house is serviced by a lead water main it is strongly suggested that before using water the tap be run for 15 to 30 seconds when the water has not been run for 6 hours or so. This precaution will help eliminate the possibility of ingesting lead which could lead to lead poisoning.

There are a few ways to determine if a water main line is lead. Lead is characterized by a silver color, is malleable, and has a round shaped “wipe joint” just before the main control valve (refer to photo and video). Wiped joints had to be used because lead cannot be threaded like a pipe can.

The NYC DEP code does not permit the repair of existing lead water lines. If repair work is needed on a lead water line by law it must be replaced. In addition once an existing lead water line is moved in any manner tiny hairline cracks are made, which will form into a leak typically within 18 months or less.

Galvanized – Galvanized water main lines

Galvanized pipe water lines are primarily found in areas where NYC residents were previously serviced by a private water supply company, such as Jamaica Water (JWP). Galvanized pipe is not legal in NYC as a material for a water supply line.

Galvanized pipe reacts to contact with water or moisture, and corrodes on the outside and inside of the pipe (refer to photo and video). It is similar to a clogged artery in a person – Only instead of a heart attack you get a flood! It is strongly suggested that any existing galvanized water service be replaced immediately with better materials, as when they leak the service typically ruptures.

The NYC DEP code does not permit repairs on existing galvanized water main service lines. In addition repairing an existing galvanized water service would be a repair with little integrity. The same applies for existing lead water service lines.

It is easy to determine if a water service is galvanized as it is the only water service material that is magnetic. Simply place any magnet on the water service, if it sticks the service is galvanized.

Typically when water is turned on in a house with galvanized piping the initial water will be rust colored or contain rust.

Copper – K copper water main lines

K type copper is the material that the vast majority of water servicesare installed with in NYC by a licensed master plumber. In addition most existing water services are K copper. K copper tubing (not pipe) is used for water services up to 2″ in size. K copper water services are characterized by flare fittings at the end of the tubing (refer to photo). K copper water services typically have a lifespan in excess of 50 years.

Brass – Brass water main lines

Brass pipe, which is threaded at each end is generally used solely for 2 1/2″ water services. Therefore it is a material that is used infrequently, and is expensive compared to other approved materials. Brass is a metal composed primarily of copper and zinc. Copper is the main component, and brass is usually classified as a copper alloy. Brass is stronger and harder than copper, but not as strong or hard as steel.

Brass water services have a life expectancy in excess of 50 years. Brass is not a magnetic material. To test whether a water service is galvanized or brass a magnet can be used, galvanized is magnetic. These materials can appear similar to the naked eye. Both brass and galvanized pipe are threaded pipe, however brass is a legal material in NYC and has a much longer life expectancy.

Ductile Iron Pipe – Ductile Iron water main lines

Ductile Iron pipe is a cement lined pipe used for water services larger than 2″ in diameter. Typically used for fire sprinkler services or for large buildings, such as apartment buildings. Ductile Iron pipe is the same material that NYC uses for its distribution system and lasts for many decades. Our of all the materials used, Ductile iron pipe may be the most durable water service material approved for use in NYC.

Ductile iron pipe is put together with either push-on joints or mechanical joint retainer glands with set screws. Ductile Iron Mechanical Joint pipe contains no lead whatsoever (refer to photos). In some specific instances, such as unstable ground conditions, ductile iron pipe is used for house sewer installations.

This brief tutorial is meant to provide basic information to help property owners understand how to evaluate the condition of their water service line and whether repair or replacement work may be needed. In some cases it may explain why water is discolored, or may contain harmful substances such as lead.

David Balkan is the VP of Balkan Sewer and Water Main Service.

Balkan Plumbing is the largest sub surface plumbing company in NYC. We are licensed, bonded, and insured. As a family run business in operation for over 50 years, our 10 year guarantee means we continue to stand by our work after the job is done.

The tap water that comes out of your faucet is perfect. Get a filter or be a filter. Which of these two sentences are more true? Both are partially true.

In many places, tap water does not taste good. In other places, tap water has tiny amounts of substances you would not want to drink – and over a lifetime might have an affect on you.

There are many kinds of potential problems in tap water. Even if your city provides good water, it has to travel a long way through old pipes on the way to your house.

I use a whole-house ten micron sediment filter to filter all water going into my house. I change the filters every five months, and they are filthy and red-colored, because of the rust and dirt in the water. When you use a whole-house filter, shower heads and faucet screens don’t clog. Whole-house filters are separate from drinking water filters.

All reverse osmosis water systems require both sediment and carbon pre-filters. All filters need to be changed. Plan on changing sediment and carbon filters every six months or sooner, and reverse osmosis membranes every 2-3 years.

It’s best to buy a dissolved solids meter, and test your water every month to make sure the system is working right. Pure water will measure zero parts per million of dissolved solids. Tap water will usually measure at least 200 parts per million.

Don’t get a liquid chemical test set, get a $25-$50 portable battery-operated tester with a LCD readout. These cheap meters only show the total dissolved solids in water – they do not tell you what is in the water.

Water filter systems and replacement filters are available on Ebay and Amazon, and many other places – even retail stores.

The hardest parts of installing water filters are connecting to the supply side of the water into your house, connecting to a drain line for the waste water, and installing a clean water faucet onto your sink. The rest of a water filter installation is easy.

You may need a plumber, or to buy a system where they will install it for you. The best systems have clear plastic casings, so you can see how dirty the filters get. The best systems also use standard-sized replacement filters, so you don’t have to buy tiny, expensive, and proprietary filters.

Reverse osmosis water filters require both a sediment and a carbon filter in front of them, to screen out the dirt and most of the junk, before the water enters the reverse osmosis filter.

A sediment filter blocks particles larger than five or ten microns. That’s an improvement over tap water, but it does not help the taste, or filter out tiny or dissolved nasty stuff in the water. The next step is a carbon block filter.

Almost all carbon block filters are activated. Activation is a process where high pressure steam is passed through coal to purify it so that it becomes almost pure carbon. Carbon is the fourth most common element in the universe, and is needed for life. Carbon makes an excellent filter, especially when extruded into a solid block.

Activated carbon block filters strain water to trap much more particles than a sediment filter can. Activated carbon filters have a positive charge to attract chemicals and impurities. As the water passes through the positively-charged carbon, the negatively-charged contaminants are attracted and bound to the carbon.

Activated carbon block filters strain out sediment, dirt, bacteria, algae, chlorine, some pesticides, asbestos, and much more. They filter sub-micron size particles, making quality water that tastes good.

The water passing through activated carbon blocks still has some particles, chlorine, nitrates, fluoride, and other dissolved junk. The next step for the best quality water is a reverse osmosis filter.

Reverse osmosis filters force water through 0.0001 micron-wide holes, through semi-permeable membranes. Long sheets of membranes are sandwiched together and rolled up around a hollow central tube in a spiral.

The reverse osmosis filter removes 99% of the remaining junk in the water. It takes almost everything out, even the calcium and magnesium in the water. Most often a small carbon filter is used after the reverse osmosis filter, to improve the taste and catch a bit more of that 1% of junk the reverse osmosis filter lets go though.

Even after sediment, carbon block, and reverse osmosis filters, water is still not perfect. Chloramines and metal ions, while reduced, may still be in the water. For this reason, some systems include a final deionizing (DI) filter.

DI filters are usually cartridges filled with plastic-like resin crystals that grab the remaining ions in the water. After the DI filter, the water is very pure.

Reverse osmosis water filters generate waste water, and they produce only a few drops of clean water per minute. For this reason, most reverse osmosis systems have a storage tank to accumulate water. All reverse osmosis systems have a drain line for waste water, that is “wasted”. The waste water can be used for plants, dumped down the drain, etc.

Ultra-pure water can grow algae very easily. When you take chlorine and other nasty stuff out of water, tiny microbes and sunlight can combine to make a perfect environment to grow harmless algae.

The quality of water filtered this way is cleaner than even distilled water. Some people think pure water tastes flat. Some people add a tiny amount of sea salt to pure water. For me, no salt is needed, pure water tastes like water should.

The Internet has baseless scare stories about how ultra pure water is dangerous. Hogwash. If you inject pure water, it may hurt you. Drinking pure water does not hurt anyone unless they are fasting.

The instant that pure water hits your mouth it’s no longer pure. Nothing is better for making coffee, cooking, and ice cubes, than using pure water.

My observations over 20 years show that pets, plants, and people really like it. When growing sprouts – with pure water, I found they grew twice as fast as with tap water.

The truth is that ultra-pure water is missing minerals. If you get calcium and magnesium in your diet, you are more than ok. Ultra pure water has no lead, copper, barium, or other garbage.

For me the trade-off is clear. What I want from water is water. As long as you get calcium and other minerals from food or supplements you should be fine. Also, too much copper is not good for you, so why get it in your water?

Mark Shapiro – http://www.JudgmentBuy.com

According to Dallas plumbers, who are among the most experienced in the field of plumbing due to the nature of the plumbing in the Metro area, very tricky soil that moves during the year, expands when it rains and shrinks when in the dry season, stressing the whole house and the plumbing pipes. Also the chemical composition of the water does not help the north Texas plumbing, very loaded with minerals that eventually clog the pipes.

There are simple and easy ways to extend the life of your pipes and other plumbing fixtures. Some of these prevention methods are performed by a qualified plumber, but many of them are steps that you can implement yourself. Taking preventative steps now will lessen plumbing emergencies and help to maintain the healthy water flow in your pipes. But first, you need to understand how your pipes function, know the cause of your plumbing problems and become aware of any plumbing peculiarities unique to your location.

1. Slab leak repair – Slab leaks are commonly caused by holes or cracks in the pipe, loose pipe connections and ruptured pipes. It is discovered only when the damage results in enough water leaking and rising up the cracks to create puddles of water on the ground.

One common cause of leaks and cracks in pipes can be due to the chemical composition of water and its effects on copper. When water flows incessantly through a copper pipe, chemicals in the water react with the copper and weaken the pipe over time. If the water pressure is too high, such as when the diameter of the pipe is too small, this shortens the time period it would normally take for water to corrode the copper pipe.

Another cause for ruptured pipes can be due to foundation shifting. This usually happens as a result of ground moisture. The moisture causes the soil to expand and contract, moving the foundation and the pipes contained within it. This pulls the pipes apart over time and results in leaks. Loose pipe connections due to poor craftsmanship of the pipe or improper installation can also be the culprit.

To prevent all these problems, experienced Dallas Plumbers recommend an application of epoxy inside the pipe. Epoxy is like water proof glue. When hardened, the epoxy turns into a compact solid state. Two objects that are bound by epoxy are bound permanently. Epoxy is so strong that even while underwater the substance can harden and bind objects or seal up holes. Due to the properties of this strong adhesive, it is most often applied to holes and cracks to stop water leaks. Using it on pipes for protection and additional strength is even better. With an epoxy lined copper pipe, the epoxy serves as a protective covering that prevents water from direct contact with the copper thus preventing corrosion. It adds to the durability of the pipe by reinforcing the inner base.

2. Toilet clogs and leaks – The toilet bowl itself is a strong bathroom fixture and is difficult to break under normal conditions of use. So toilet problems would rarely require entire toilet replacement. Internal parts within the tank that get worn out can be bought separately. Though toilet clogs can be easily managed by plumbers, it is sometimes embarrassing to have it done. You also are at the mercy of waiting until the plumber is available to come and fix your problem. Even if you live in an apartment, you still have the same embarrassment to contend with and you still have to wait for the maintenance man to arrive. Meanwhile, it can be very inconvenient to have an inoperative bathroom. So prevention is always the best choice. You can start by keeping the toilet clean. Do not flush hard, solid objects down the toilet. Also, do not flush sanitary napkins, paper towels, Kleenex tissues, cat litter, or anything else other than toilet paper.

3. Kitchen sink clogs – Food, grease, and soap can accumulate and clog the pipes of your sink. This will grow eventually into a bigger problem if not addressed immediately. To prevent gunk from accumulating in the pipes, use strainers over the drain to catch food particles and prevent them from going down with the water. Also, it is important never to pour grease down your drain. Use an empty coffee can to pour your grease into, and then dispose of the can when it becomes full. Grease that is poured down the drain turns into a thick solid of fat that will line your pipes. Over time this will become a clog. From time to time, pour boiling hot water mixed with vinegar down your sink drain to flush it out, wash away grease build up and loosen stuck particles and clumps.

4. Burst Pipes – It can be difficult to identify ahead of time when your pipes are having problems because they’re completely hidden. Often times you are unaware of a problem until the pipe has burst and water is leaking. To get ahead of this dilemma, it helps to pay attention to any unusual sounds your pipes may be producing such as growling, whistling, rattling, and screeching. Any of these would indicate that your pipes need to be examined by a plumber ASAP. Also, any changes in the water flow or water pressure from your faucets can be due to a damaged pipe. Do not wait to call a professional. Any delays can result in much greater problems and costly repairs.

Rick Romero is a licensed Plumber in Dallas TX.

Electronic water softeners are steadily becoming more and more popular. In fact, a lot of households now prefer the said softener over the traditional salt-based types and magnetic types. Here are some of the reasons why.

Because electric water softeners use electromagnetic waves instead of salts, these devices have no need for maintenance and have no continuing salt costs. They don’t use salts so you don’t have to keep on buying a fresh batch to reload your softener every time the sodium ions in the beads are completely used up. You also don’t have to take them apart for reloading or install them back after charging. After the initial installation, you don’t have to do anything else to them again; at least not for the next 5 to 20 years.

Compared to the magnetic types, electronic water softeners are not flow-dependent. This means that you don’t have to refit your water lines with smaller pipes just to make sure that the water flow slows down enough for the ions to be magnetized. This particular method is often more costly and often leads to clog ups. In contrast, electronic water softeners are installed in one particular portion of the pipe only, preferably the main line that delivers the water to your home, and are left alone. No retro-fitting required. No costly maintenance performed.

The more recent electronic water softeners are even programmed to send varying electromagnetic pulses that are enough to dissolve the existing scales in your pipes, water heaters, toilets, and faucets. The pulses travel to the pipes and re-dissolve the precipitates produced by previous, less-efficient water softeners. This leads to more efficient washing and flow of water in your whole system.

On the other hand, in order to not disturb other appliances in the house that use electromagnetic signals, like your radio and TV, the newest models operate only with a certain range.

http://www.electronicwatersoftener.org

You wait awhile, hoping the problem is temporary. You hope your sink will eventually drain of the water that’s standing in it. You even stick a finger down the hole to feel for some intrusive clump of hair. However, your problem remains, it isn’t draining.

We use the bathroom sink for so many things in a single day. We simply take it for granted until something goes wrong. A clog has a significant impact on our lives, and we need to get things flowing again as soon as possible. It’s looking like a drain repair in your home will be essential in this situation.

If you have a stopped up drain, then there might be a clog just out of reach in the drain pipe. Longtime accumulations of hair, food particles, impurities, soap and grease can plug a pipe. Such a glob of waste will cause a slow down or stop draining completely. The built up debris of many years narrows the drainpipe until nothing will get through.

If more than one drain is involved, there may be a more widespread plumbing repair problem. Errant tree roots blocking pipes can bring on a multi-drain problem, as can a poorly installed, designed, damaged or aging plumbing system. All of these situations may necessitate simple repairs of perhaps a complete overhaul.

The result is you have a very inconvenient plugged drain or drains. This also causes a real problem with poor sanitation and odor. Biological material accumulates and bacteria begin to develop, triggering potential hazards and unpleasant conditions. This would obviously be the case with sewers, but all clogged drains can create an odor or sanitation problem.

It can be a temptation to attempt your own plumbing repair, however think twice, because this can turn out badly. It is a better idea to hire a plumbing professional. Happily, there are highly-trained professionals that are experts in the trade. The days of digging up property to access pipes for a simple diagnosis are behind us.

Having to dig up your entire yard is always a very destructive and expensive method. The modern plumbing professional employs such advanced technology as a video sewer inspection system. By itself, this fiber-optic and flexible video camera can look at and diagnose a blocked sewer line. Your plumber can see and record your sewer lines in action.

With a minimum of hassle and expense, your expert plumber will clear the lines, repair your problem and return the normal functioning of your drains and sewer system. So why wage a futile battle against the problem all on your own? Do away with plumbers helpers, drain cleaners and plumbing snakes, that often don’t help at all. Let trained repair professionals ascertain the problem and repair it.

They will be able to ascertain the problem very quickly, and understand how to repair it. They may also detect a larger problem that needs to be addressed before it gets any larger. A professional plumber will be able to see what the real problem is and fix it effectively. Remember, be good to your drains and sewer systems, and they will be good to you.

In the Atlanta area look for Cobb County plumbing repair service on the web.

Every house has them, yet most people ignore them until something goes wrong. They are your drain and sewer lines. These pipes help carry waste water out of your home, through your yard, and eventually to the city sewer system or your own septic tank and field. Keeping these lines clean and flowing well is an essential part to keeping your home in good shape, and your family healthy.

Drain lines run through the walls or floors, then into the ground beneath your home. When these lines are functioning well, water drains quickly. But drains become clogged with accumulated hair, food, grease, soap scum, even things like straws and silverware. Eventually the drain will not drain at all, breeding disease and opening your home up for flooding.

Even a relatively small flood can cause flooring and drywall damage. Unfortunately this type of preventable disaster is not covered by many homeowners insurance policies. If you have a slow running drain call for and Atlanta plumbing repair professional. A qualified plumber can clean your drains using safe plumbing products and techniques.

In addition to these drain lines, plumbing lines run beneath your home, out into your yard. These sewer lines can become blocked for many reasons such as tree roots, an improperly installed line, or perhaps there is construction debris stuck in it. If your floor drains back up, then you probably have such a blockage under your house or within your yard. It is imperative that you call a plumber immediately if you experience such a drain back up.

Experts can run an electric snake through your lines, with a rotating cutting blade. The snake cuts away roots that have pushed their way into pipes, ensuring that the drain will flow while you arrange a more permanent pipe repair. Sometimes, the snake will find that a collection of solid debris has simply built up, and can clear it easily. When necessary, technology allows your Atlanta plumber to run a small, fiber optic camera down the line, revealing any problems.

Homes with septic systems are susceptible to more problems. Septic systems move waste into a septic tank, where enzymes break down the solid wastes, floating the liquids to the top to leach out into the drain field. There, they seep into the soil, making room for more liquid waste to leave the tank. If the organic balance in the septic tank is not maintained, solids may not be broken down and can leak out into the field, resulting in a clogged field, and liquid waste backing up into the home, costing thousands of dollars to repair.

Prevent this by adding a monthly enzyme supplement to your system and having your septic tank pumped every few years. With plumbing drain lines, a simple slow running drain, if caught early, can be repaired before causing significant damage. As with most things in life, catching a problem early, and having a professional take care of it, it the best step towards keeping your sewer lines flowing well. This will ensure that your family home remains clean, dry and healthy.

Nick Messe is president of The Lead Frog LLC.

Not everyone lives in a big city or even the suburbs and for those who live in rural areas, but still want to experience the benefit of clean water, it is important to understand how well water filtration works.

In rural areas, it is common for people to rely on the availability of well water. However, there can be serious problems over the quality and drinkability of well water that could lead many people to look to a well filtration system in order to make sure they protect the health of themselves and their family.

While sometimes the purity of well H2o can be very good, sometimes the water is contaminated with bacteria. This most commonly happens when a septic field or surface water makes its way into the water source before the well water is filtered by the soil. When this is a possibility, it is necessary for well filtration to be installed so the homeowner can enjoy and use clean water.

There are components to a well water filtration system and it is important for the well water to flow through in a specific order. The components and necessary steps to getting clean well water are: the water first must flow through a well pump and into the pressure tank, from there it should go through the water softening process, through a 5 micron filter, through an ultraviolet purifier, and then into the water heater. If any of these steps are skipped, it could affect the quality and drinkability of the water.

A well filtration is a little more advanced than a typical water filtration system used in a suburban or urban residence. Typically, those water filtration systems are simply making sure impurities are removed. Since the well water is a little more “raw” in form, it is necessary for the well water filtration system to be more advanced and more thorough.

As with any filtration system, it is necessary for a homeowner to provide proper maintenance on the well water filtration system in order to make sure it works correctly. For instance, when the system is installed, it is important to stay vigilant and check for leaks, this won’t harm a person’s health but it will harm their wallet. Also, it is necessary to make sure that the bulb in the ultraviolet light portion of the purifier is working. If this ever goes out, the water will not be purified.

Well water filtration systems can give those who live in the country peace of mind that their water is clean.

Jason Smedley writes about well water filtration and whole house water filters.

When you think about steel water tanks, chances are you picture a large tank high in the air being used by a farm or ranch. But the truth is, steel tanks are the traditional water tanks that have been used for ages in the house. However with the advent of poly water tanks and concrete water tanks, they now have some serious competition. Still, they are in use everywhere in offices and in any place where you need a large amount of water.

There are a lot of advantages to using steel. They can resist fire and are termite proof as well. In addition to this, they are not at all affected by the harsh weather conditions. Their sturdiness is what still makes them popular. Even the plastic, fiberglass or poly tanks could not replace these tanks in terms of durability.

Steel tanks can be placed underground and set up to catch rainwater. Then with a simple pipe to your home you have an economical and conservation friendly way to use water from the sky.

But just because they are called water tanks, don’t be fooled into thinking that is the only use for them. Sometimes they are used to store chemicals that can eat through tanks made from other materials. And we even know of people who use them to store goods like canned food, bottled water, and blankets that they can access in case of an emergency.

These steel tanks are quite economical. So the pocket pinch can be little less if you decide this is the way you want to go. They will generally last as long as you need them to provided they are taken care of properly. Fifty to 60 years is not uncommon. They have system which can effortlessly dispose water whenever needed.

Steel water tanks are easy to install. In fact they can be installed very quickly. They are ready made tanks unlike the concrete ones. However it needs to be added that these tanks are preferably used as header tanks and not as reservoir tanks.

These water tanks are also very low on maintenance. But you need to make sure that you clean them periodically for health and safety reasons. The fact that they are painted with an anti corrosion paint inside the tanks protects them from corrosion and leaching so your water drinkable and safe if that’s what you choose to use it for.

You can find steel water tanks in just about any store that specializes in water storage. If you don’t have one near you, that’s not a problem. You can also locate plenty of dealers with a quick Internet search. In fact by doing this you’ll not only get a better selection, you’ll be able to read customer reviews to find out which tank is best for you. And you’ll be able compare prices to make sure you don’t overspend. And there’s no high pressure salesman there pushing you into something you may not need.

Steel tanks are available in various shapes and sizes so finding one that will fit nicely where you need it to should not be a problem. Overall steel water tanks are eco friendly and are not at harmful for anyone.

To learn more about steel water tanks and other types of permanent or portable water tanks, be sure to visit our website at PortableWaterTanks.net.
