Using A Black & White Theme For Your Bathroom Decoration

The bathroom is often the one room that homeowners pay very little attention to concerning its design and décor. This is usually because the room is used for very limited reasons, but many don’t realize that it could be used for so much more. In fact, the tub provides the perfect place to relax and unwind after a hard day’s work, which many people fail to do on a regular basis. With a décor that’s a little more dramatic, people may be more willing to use this room as more of a sanctuary when they want to get away from it all. Here are some tips on how to transform the look of your bathroom, turning it into an area of the house you will actually enjoy using.

Start Out Slow
If you’re considering incorporating black and white into your bathroom, start out with something simple that will give you a taste of the look. For instance, a stark white wall adorned with a simple black-and-white print framed in solid black will give you an idea of what to expect. Although this décor isn’t for everyone, if you love bold and dramatic, you may find that it suits you perfectly.

How Color Affects Your Mood
Different colors have been proven to affect people’s moods. For many, white represents tranquility, whereas black radiates excitement and sophistication. The way that these two colors become a sort of blend of opposites results in some very exciting decorating!

The Floor Is Essential to the Overall Look
It’s common for people to ignore the floors when it comes to decorating their home. Yet flooring and rugs can completely transform the look of any room! In a black-and-white bathroom décor, bold designs are key. In terms of bathroom flooring, tile or marble is great to begin with. By using a mixture of black and white tiles, you can dramatically impact the look of the room. What will result is a look that’s bold and exciting, yet refined and tranquil at the same time. You might also consider a jet black throw rug over a snow-white floor.

Include Great Accessories
Accessories are the jewelry of any room, meaning they’re essential for completing the look. What helps pull a bathroom look together, making it complete, is the window and shower curtains. For this type of décor, go with a bold geometric or abstract pattern that incorporates black, white, and gray. Over the vanity, hang a dramatic mirror edged in black or silver. If you have a large bare wall in your bath, hang an intricately patterned mural or tapestry that fits with the décor.

Update Your Cabinets
If you want to update the look of your cabinets, they might benefit from a coat of either black or white paint. Top it off with a high gloss coat of polyurethane, and then add some contrast with knobs in the opposite color. Try to picture in your mind how fantastic this bathroom décor is going to look. You can be sure that this room will never be thought of as plain or dull again!

Above all, the bathroom needs to be a sanctuary where you can relax and unwind after a long, stressful day. Once you’ve filled up the tub, add scented bath oil, bubbles, or whatever you like. Once you light a few candles and pour a glass of wine, you’ll find yourself totally loving your surroundings.

Choosing a Painting Contractor

If you are in the midst of remodeling your home, finding the right painting contractor is extremely important. Painting is one of the final steps before the project is completed. You will see the color every time you go in the house or look at the outside. It is important to have the job done correctly. If you are putting the money into the remodel or the bills, you do not want to skimp on this very important step. A lot of people get to the end of a project, see money is tight, and think that they can skimp on painting costs. That could not be further from the truth.

If you bring in a painting contractor in early stages of your project, they can give you professional advice as well as estimates to make the process go easier. They can likely help you with wallpaper removal, minor repairs, and prepping walls for paint. This can save you both time and money since your focus is on the overall project and not just on getting a paint job right. They can also bring you samples of various paint colors in order for you to choose the one that works best for you. Again, that is a savings of both time and money. That is great whether you live in Orlando East, Kissimmee, Apopka, Lake Mary, Winter Springs, Winter Park, Windermere, Dr. Phillips, Bay Hill, Oviedo or anywhere else in the Orlando Metro Area.

Finding the right painting contractor is as important as finding the right electrician or plumber. You want one that will give you a professional job at a fair price and in the quickest time frame possible. You also want one that knows exactly what they are doing. Hiring your nephew to do it because he painted his bedroom last year will likely give you what you paid for. It is better to get the job done right the first time then to pay for it a second or third time. Bring in the professionals early, get their take on proper preparation, and then stand back and let them do their magic.

The right painting contractor can also give you options for how you paint a house. The right professional will know how to bring colors together in the right way to enhance the focal point or to diminish an eyesore. They can get in, get the job done, and get out quickly. For people that live extremely busy lives, and trying to remodel a home, that is very important. The last thing you want to have to deal with in this process is an unprofessional painting contractor or one that takes forever to complete the job.

The Beauty Added By Texture Sprayers

Right from the beginning of this world, mankind is struggling for a more beautiful and lovely world. 20th century was the most colorful century till the start of 21st, and now people don’t prefer just to spray color on their walls, cars and offices, they prefer to have a texture full of art and color, showing there love for the artistic objects.

Before the invention of the modern texture sprayers it was quite a difficult task to paint a small piece of wall with a consistent, balanced and good looking texture. But now there is so much variety available of this modern equipment that it has become a difficult task to select the right one at right cost. There are hundreds of companies who are specialized just in the manufacturing of equipments related to the texturing tools. The tools mostly used are compressors, knock down knives, patch guns, brushes, cans, rollers, guns and of course the texture sprayers which really make it happen at the end.

The price of a texture sprayer varies from $300 to $8,000 giving the buyers a range of tools being manipulated according to the needs of a small home texture painter to a large firm dealing with the construction companies which construct huge projects like multistory apartments, hotels, shopping centers etc. A very low price texture sprayer normally have the following equipment.

  • Texture Pump • It delivers smooth flow of material from the sprayer for uniform exposure and a constant pattern • material flow rate is measured by gpm (gallons per minute).
  • Spray Gun• Because of this spray gun material remains back at the pump so the operator has to manage only the weight of the gun and not of the material
  • Texture Projection System• This pumping system force-feeds the material through texture gun
  • Material Hopper • It only holds the material. Normally the size of this hopper is more than 5 gallons of material, which allows the operator to complete a normal size room without refilling.

When we go for a high price model then we will find a more complex sprayer with a heavy duty motor installed, which can run both the pump and the air comperssor at the same time. Some high performance models are made to work on the 220-240 voltage input direct from the AC supply line. The working of these texture sprayers is very efficient when we talk about the mega projects and if we didn’t have this high performance models then the beautiful and consistent texturing of mega projects might have remained a dream for the modern world.

All the large manufacturing companies also make sure the production of each and every part of their models to facilitate their customers in having a long life benefit from their product. These parts generally include Replacement air/fluid hose, Pump repair hose, Gun Repair Kit, Compressor Belt, Roto-Pump belt and Nozzle kits.

Texture Sprayers have become a very useful equiment which enables the mankind to texturize this world and make it a more beautiful place to live in, with the passage of every single day.

8 Simple Tips for Interior Painting

Besides buying an oak bed for your bedroom or an elegant wood bookshelf for your home office, simply painting a room can easily freshen it up, giving it an instant new look. Yet many homeowners dread interior painting. Painting the inside of your home isn’t as bad as it seems, especially if you know what to do and how to paint in the most efficient manner. Following are some basic interior painting tips that will help make your next painting project run much more smoothly.

1. Don’t try to prep the area and paint it all in one day.
This will only leave you feeling rushed, which more times than not will lead to a bad paint job. It’s a better idea to set aside a separate day when you can do all the prep work for painting. If the room isn’t used on a daily basis, you might even be able to do this a few days ahead. Room preparation should include tasks such as taping the walls, laying down a drop cloth, moving furniture, and gather any painting supplies you might need.

2. Never try to paint over damaged walls.
Before you even try to paint a room, it is essential that you carefully look over the walls and fix any cracks or holes you find. It’s not very difficult to fix any cracks and holes; all you need is a drywall kit and some sandpaper. Be sure to do this at least a day before you paint. That way the drywall plaster will have some time to dry and you’ll have time to sand down the area as well.

3. Choose the best brushes for the paint job.
For oil-based paint, go with a brush that has natural bristles. However, for water-based or latex paint, synthetic bristled brushes will give you the most even coat. For large areas, you want to use foam rollers on the walls. For trim and windows, though, you’ll need smaller brushes.

4. Always use a primer to achieve a more professional look.
Primers are great, because they just make the paint go on so much more even and also help avoid the possible tainting of the color from a previous wall color. Even better, you can have your primer tinted to match the color you’ve selected, which may help you avoid having to put a second coat of paint on the walls.

5. Be sure to use painter’s blue tape for any areas that you don’t want to get paint on, such as doorway frames, trim, and windows.

The great thing about this tape is that when it’s applied to a smooth surface, it won’t allow the paint to seep into those areas you’re covering. After the paint dries, simply remove the tape. The nice thing is, you don’t have to worry about any of the paint coming off with it.

6. Have plenty of old rags for any mistakes that may happen.
When painting, it’s inevitable that you will drop some paint on the trim or hit something you shouldn’t with a brush.

7. Keep your strokes even when painting to ensure an even coat.
To this end, it’s important that you have plenty of natural light in the room. This way, you can see where you are painting and any areas you might have missed.

8. Don’t throw away leftover paint so you have it for any future touch-ups or fixes.
If you only have a little leftover and you don’t have the space to store a large can of paint, there is a solution. Simply pour the leftover paint into a glass jar with a tight lid and store it that way. Label the jar with the exact color of the paint, the room it was used in, and the date, and you’ll be all set.

Painting the interior of your home isn’t as scary as it seems. With these easy tips, you are well on your way to changing the decor of your home in no time at all.

A Guide to Epoxy Floor Paint

Epoxy paints come in a wide variety.

Basically, epoxy paints are a three part solution. One part epoxy, one part hardener and one part paint. Variation is determined by the grade and composition of epoxy being used. Every surface and condition (underwater for example) has a type of epoxy coating that suits it best. Concrete, steel, wood, ceramic, already painted surfaces etc, all have different grade epoxies that give the best result. Similarly, an epoxy mixture for a horizontal wall would be different than a mixture for a vertical surface. Thus, you first need to analyze the substrate (or surface) and conditions where the epoxy is to be used for coating.

Epoxy is water, stain, chemical and impact resistant. But to really achieve the desired result, the epoxy needs to be applied on a totally dry surface. For instance, if you have just gotten your garage floor repaired you should let the concrete dry off completely for a few weeks before applying the epoxy coat because otherwise the epoxy will trap moisture while curing, thus becoming weak. Epoxy paint manufacturers emphasize the fact that the floor to be painted must be well prepared; otherwise they do not give any guarantees or warrantees.

The strength of epoxy floor paint depends on good application. Before applying the floor coat, the floor needs to be cleaned and all kinds of dirt, dust, chemicals, grease or whatever there may be must be cleaned. The floor must then be treated with muriatic acid for twenty minutes and then cleaned and allowed to dry.

Moisture and temperature can greatly affect the strength and shine of the paint once it dries. The ideal conditions would be around 50 or eighty degrees and less than 75% humidity. The lesser the humidity the better. If the temperature is too high the epoxy mixture may solidify too quickly and if too low, it would take too much time to solidify, thus allowing some moisture and dust etc to attach to itself.

Finally, the epoxy mixture needs to ‘cure’ or dry up or solidify completely before the floor starts being used. This takes more than twenty four to thirty six hours for light traffic and there should be absolutely no pressure on the epoxy coat before this time. Full curing takes up to a week.

Once the epoxy floor paint is ready, you can bang on it, pour water and acids or park cars and planes but it will not take on a scratch.
