Although everyone has a toilet, it is very hard for homeowners to think about the features that differentiate them, until they have to start looking for a replacement toilet. There is a wide variety of this kind of bathroom fixtures to choose from, for every pocket and for every need. The price range of a toilet varies from eighty dollars to two hundred dollars. In fact, if take a closer look to the latest Japanese inventions, you will be able to find a john with the most interesting features.

It is important that you consider the practical aspect of the flush, when you are looking for a replacement toilet. Additionally, you should take the time and measure the old one, if you want to make sure that you are going to purchase one that will fit perfectly in the space and décor of your bathroom. Therefore, if you have a small bathroom, then you should pick a toilet with a rounded bowl, whereas you should get an egg-shaped john if you have the space for it. Even though the rounded bowls provide enough comfort, the elongated bowl has extra 2 inches of support.

At the same time, aspects such as who is using the toilet or certain family member impairment or illness should be taken into account, when you are looking for a replacement toilet. If the toilet is going to be used only by adults, as you do not have children, then you should opt for higher toilet seats. On the other hand, if the replacement toilet will be mounted in your child’s bathroom, then you should focus on purchasing one not higher than 25 centimeters. Moreover, if you have a movement impairment that is keeping you in a wheelchair, you can purchase a toilet with 43 centimeters seat height.

After you have decided on this particular feature, the next thing you should do is choose the flushing system. Although you will not be able to opt for a replacement toilet with a higher water capacity than 6 liters, you can choose between pressure-assisted toilets and the regular gravity fed. If you opt for the pressure-assisted john, you should know that it would add another 100 dollars to the overall price of the toilet. However, you can also look for extra built-in features that can boost water pressure and clear the bowl quicker, if you do not want to pay 100 extra dollars for the toilet.

If the toilet is going to be available for anyone that enters you house, then you can take into account paying for extra features, such as bidet style spray and dry devices or deodorized fans. This way you will make your guests do not feel uncomfortable, if they have to go to the bathroom after dinner. At the same time, if you are living in a colder climate, you should give yourself a treat and purchase heated seats for your replacement toilet.

All you need to know about installing toilets.

You may not be the best carpenter in town, but following the tips below, your coat rack will be the most unique, priceless and incomparable. Here, I recommend a 16-inch horizontal coat rack with 5 coat racks.

(i) You should sketch on a paper the design of your coat rack with its specific measurements. You should also identify and prepare the materials and equipments needed. The materials needed are 1-by-16 inch piece of wood, 5 coat hooks, 1 sand paper, 7 screws, 2 studs and varnish. The equipments are pencil, varnish brush, drill and screwdriver.

(ii) Divide the length of the wood evenly by the 5 hooks with 0.5 inch on the left and right corner. Each hook is suggested to have 3 inch apart. On each 0.5 inch corner, you should also mark a spot (on same horizontal line to each other) for holes for screws later. Then, mark each spot using pencil.

(iii) Drill mounting holes on the 7 pencil spots.

(iv) Lacquered the wood and the hooks (if made of wood) with varnish and let it to dry. If you prefer a shinier and glossier look, you may give it an additional coat of varnish.

(v) Place one hook on a hole and attach it to the wood using a screw and a screwdriver. Repeat this step for the remaining hooks. You must do this carefully so that the wood is not scarred.

(vi) Then, your coat rack is well-built but in order to use it you must put the rack on the wall.

(vii) Before you put the rack onto the wall, you must first determine the area. Then, by holding the rack against the wall on the desired area, use the pencil to color or mark the holes of each 0.5 inch corners onto the wall.

(viii) Next, drill through the front wall on the marked spots and place a stud in each hole. Place the coat rack onto the wall and make sure the studs and the two holes on each 0.5 inch corner are overlapping before you attach them with the screws.

(ix) Finally, you can start to hang your coats on it!

If you are a creative person, you may also paint your favourite cartoon characters or flower pattern on the wood rather than using the varnish as I have. To make your coat rack more unique, you consider having uneven gaps between the hooks. Lastly, no matter what design you wish to have make sure the coat rack meets your needs. Happy DIY!

Should you need any eye screws to tighten things up, do visit http://eyebolts.org for more information.

When a 12 volt lead acid battery indicates a voltage lower than 12.3 volts, sulfur crystal formation will begin to occur inside, covering the lead plates. The sulfur crystal accumulation will give rise to the internal battery resistance rendering it unusable. With the use of a desulfator, high-voltage pulses will be generated based on it’s own energy that will break up the accumulated sulfur crystals. Depending on it’s size, like a 60 pounds automotive battery will fully desulfate in three weeks time.

The following are some information in desulfating a battery. Understanding the desulfator schematic will contribute for better results. Some people at the start might find it difficult but when you read on, you will notice that it is easy after all. Just make sure that you read it thoroughly for better appreciation and understanding.

1. First, run a test on it to see if it qualifies for the reconditioning procedure. It is a fact that not all batteries can be recharged. There are some that are of no use anymore.

2. With the use of a multi-tester, measure the voltage available on the battery. A small amount of charge is a reasonable indication for reconditioning. Other testing procedures using a multi-tester can be applied to the individual cells on their respective charges.

3. When the battery is not indicating any charge in it, check on the water level. If the water is low, fill it up with ionized water. Charge it overnight using a trickle charger. Check for a battery charge the next day.

4. When the battery indicates a charge, recharging can be made. The recharging process may be initialized by the battery desulfator schematic.

5. Connect the desulfator to the battery by clamping the negative lead to the negative pole and the positive lead to the positive pole.

6. The tendency of the battery desulfator is to get some power from the battery, which will lower its voltage. Using a 12-volt charger will help to charge the voltage back to the battery.

7. Using a low tester will give the indication on the daily progress of the recharging process.

8. The recharging process will take several days to complete. The specific gravity should be checked as well as the voltage level of the battery. After that, equalization charge should be applied.

9. Upon regular monitoring, increase in voltage charges will be noticed. When the charge reached 14 volts upon an equalization charge, the battery is good as new.

10. In order to accomplish a positive result while desulfating, guidelines should be followed carefully. It will also provide safety by applying the procedure correctly.

Battery reconditioning can be performed easily and effectively. People can save a lot using battery desulfator schematic in reconditioning batteries – and you can do so, too!

Reconditioning batteries can save you thousands of dollars. I actually recondition batteries as a side business (and it’s quite profitable). If you would like to learn how to recondition batteries check out: Battery Desulfator Schematic.

Asbestos removal is something that pops up in many renovation projects, demolition projects and even small projects where you didn’t expect to find any! So when can you DIY, and when do you need to call in the professionals?

What’s the logic behind licensing?

Usually, licensing logic is governed by the rule that if you’re interacting with municipal, state or federal infrastructure you need a licence. But licensing for asbestos-containing material (ACM) removal has a different logic. Asbestos is scary stuff and handling it or being on contact with it can severely damage your health. And rightfully so, the government puts restrictions on when you can and can’t remove asbestos for your safety.

But with asbestos, there are varying degrees of danger, so there are also varying licence requirements.

But how do you know whether the work needs a licensed professional or not?

A general rule of thumb is that the state of the asbestos dictates whether you need a licence or not. If it’s friable or bonded, it’s far more dangerous, and that’s usually when a licence requirement kicks in. Large amounts also indicate the need for a professional with a licence.

Licence requirements vary

Every state has different requirements for the safe removal of asbestos-containing material (ACM). When looking at the regulations around asbestos removal, most state regulators have different requirements for either bonded or friable asbestos-containing materials. So what are they?

Asbestos-containing materials fall into two broad categories: bonded and friable.

‘Bonded’ asbestos-containing materials

‘Bonded’ describes asbestos-containing materials (ACM) where the asbestos is firmly interwoven in the material. They’re not likely to release airborne fibres if they’re not disturbed and so pose a lower health risk.

Examples of bonded ACM:

flat and corrugated cement sheeting used in walls, ceilings and roofs

moulded items such as downpipes

vinyl floor coverings.

‘Friable’ asbestos-containing materials

‘Friable’ describes asbestos-containing materials (ACM) that can be easily reduced to powder by hand, when dry. They’re likely to release measurable levels of airborne asbestos fibres when disturbed, and generally pose a higher health risk

Examples of friable ACM

sprayed asbestos fire retardants

thermal lagging, such as pipe insulation.

It requires some patience if you want to remove tree stumps with backhoe. Before you are going to use a backhoe, it is important for you to learn from someone who has experience in operating backhoe if you have not operated it before. So, you will know well about the work of the backhoe. By following some tips below, you will get the easy ways to remove tree stumps with a backhoe.

As the first step, you need to determine the position you are going to locate your backhoe around the tree stump. You will need to consider that you may require putting the stabilizing legs. These can keep the backhoe on the ground if there are too many stains that are being put on the bucket. It is possible for the backhoe to tip over if you are not using the stabilizing legs.

The second step is to contact a local heavy equipment facility for renting a backhoe. You will find that most of facilities have backhoe drivers who are going to drive out the backhoe to you and they will also pick it up after you are done. If there is something about the backhoe that you need to know, you can take a few minutes for asking the driver about it.

The third step is to locate the backhoe with toothed bucket in front of the tree stump. You can do it by pulling in front of the tree stump and then you need to move back toward the stump. You will find that the tree stump is going to be in front of the backhoe bucket directly.

The fourth step is to push the left and the right stabilizer control lever for extending the stabilizing legs. After that, the left swing control pedal should be pushed for moving the backhoe arm to the left side of the stump. You can use dipper control lever to locate the stick of backhoe arm. Moreover, you need to pull the lever for bringing the dipper inward and then you have to push for moving it outward.

The last step is to push the boom control level in a way to situate the backhoe arm so that the bucket teeth will be close to the ground. After that, you should move down the boom and the stick of backhoe arm in order to make the bucket teeth go into the ground. For breaking up the root system, you can do it for several times, depending on the size of the tree stump.

If want to know several types of backhoe that can be used for different purposes, you can take a look at the review of backhoe attachment. In this review, you will also get further information about backhoe tractor that you may need for your job.

Some of the hardest parts of any home repair job involve making sure that everything needed is present and that the area is prepared properly. Home owners often do not perform a basic check list before making some simple repairs, which ends up making the job longer than it has to be, or even making the house worse than it was before the job was started. Here are five common jobs that can be done around the house that often need to be done.

Painting

Painting is the easiest way to effectively update or improve the look of a room. No matter how small or large the job is, painting can help a room look more attractive because a bad paint job results in the room looking shabby, which brings down the quality of the house. Prepping the area involves removing and furniture and fixtures that could get paint spilled on them. Remove curtain rods, door hinges and switch-plates. Cover all baseboard and all light switches with duct tape in order to protect them from the paint. At the end of the job, recycle the paint instead of throwing it away.

Door Maintenance

A door can make squeaking sounds as well as stick so that it will not open. Indoor as well as outdoor entrances can do this just the same. Wooden doors located inside the house can swell in humid weather and contract in cold weather. Before adjusting the planes on the sides of the door, make sure to properly prepare the area. Get a carpenter’s plane in order to shave wood off the planes in order to make the door fit. A hammer and screwdriver may be necessary in order to remove the hinges.

Caulking

Caulk is what holds the tiles inside a shower together, the rim of a bathtub to the wall, or the outer edge of toilet to the floor. Unfortunately, moisture can also eat away at caulk over time, which makes replacing it necessary. Before replacing it, make sure that there is no moisture to speak of in the bathroom in question. It is imperative that moisture does not get behind the rim of the bathtub because that is what gives the impetus for mould to grow, which is the death knell for any room in the house.

Tap Washer Repair

Replacing a tap washer is necessary because water, being the universal solvent, eats away at the plastic the washer is made of. This not only annoying, but potentially dangerous; a leaky faucet can waste a lot of water each year. Get the necessary tools, such as a hammer, a screwdriver, etc. before beginning.

Toilet Clogs

Perhaps the most annoying part of any home repair is unclogging the toilet. Using a plunger will often take care of this problem.

Tommy is your guide to all thing electrical in the home, from a standard washing machine to washing machines with dryer functions to digital cameras and HD TVs.

Constructing a bar in your home can add to the worth, functionality and aesthetics of your home. A bar will moreover be a really handy feature when you are entertaining and it supplies you a place to put your liquor. If you are considering building a bar in your home there are several options you may consider. You can buy a ready-made bar or have one custom-made, you can buy bar plans that will tell you how much material you need, which materials and step-by-step instructions. Or you can build a bar without any help with a little know-how.

If you don’t desire a long-term structure or you desire something easy to reposition, you might opt to use bamboo or some other light material. But if your bar will be a long-term component you will have to use more sturdy material. Therefore here are a few instructions you can use to build a bar of your very own.

Required Tools
Screwdriver
Glue
Saw
Drill
Clamps
Required Materials
2x4s
Wood screws
Triangular wood blocks
Molding
Sink
Faucets
¾ inch copper pipe
Shutoff valves
Flexible hose
Drain pipe
Facing board

Instructions

Let’s assume that you are constructing a bar in your basement; use the 2x4s and glue to construct a frame for your bar, use the screw driver to place wood screws into all the joints that you glue together to properly secure them; use the clamps to hold the frame in place until all the screws are in position and the glue has dried. The height of your frame ought to be around 44″ for simple access; screw a wood block into every horizontal area of your frame to make the frame sturdier. Leave the back area of the bar open so you may add shelves afterwards.

Put in whatever reinforcements you need to so the bar can contain shelves, sinks and coolers; keep in mind when framing the box that you will require holes for electrical cords, faucets and whatever other amenities you want. Next comes the plumbing, place the sink where it will be in the bar and use the ¾ inch pipe to carry hot and cold water to the bar location. Install shutoff valves below the sink and extend the flexible hose from the shutoff valve to the faucets in the sink. You have to furthermore add the drain pipe.

Then comes the electrical part; the stages here will differ based on the various things you want in your bar. However, it is recommended that for both the electrical and plumbing segment you call in a professional if you do not have a lot of skills in this area since it is very vital that you get both things right.

Now go on and complete your bar with facing boards and go on to the top. You can use wood or stone to top your bar, it is all a matter of what you rather. If though you are using a stone top, request a box inspection to ensure that your frame can manage the mass of the stone top. Construct a shelf or two around 4 inches thick on the wall behind the bar as a show shelf for your alcohol and your bar is completed.

Tips and Warnings

Ensure there is sufficient space behind the bar for a cooler and anything else you may desire before you make the bar; you do not want to construct your bar only to find that the area is too small for a cooler therefore check this first.

The bar top ought to project over the base by 1 foot on the supporter’s side and 11 inches on the server’s side.

Please visit these links for more information on How To Build A Bar and this link for information on Build A Bar

A house is where you seek out comfort. Your house, regardless of, how it currently is designed, means a lot to you. Building a home for your loved ones is really a wish come true. Your engineer or property agent may supply assistance to you on a proper construction plan. Moreover, for the best looking house, you must have good home construction plans. When you are through with building your home and start living in it, you might notice the need to maintain the house after some time. A Nice home will be the one which is properly looked after. Obviously, a site as huge as a home just isn’t that easy to maintain. Nonetheless, with the passage of time, the need keeps developing.

There’s lots of different parts that will need your observation and renovation as the time goes by

One of the most important and delicate parts of your house is the wood bits and pieces. Whether it is the cabinets, window panes, furniture, flooring, or doors, wood needs to be the primary thing to get given attention to. Ignorance towards the wood may lead to the inhabitance of termites leaving you with a hollow object. On annual basis it is important that you get fumigation done Look for caulking when you inspect doors and windows. Get it done on time to avoid expenses that will arise if the issue persists.

Examine both the attic and roof. Because of the direct sunlight and dampness (dependant upon your environment) the roof area is subject to most of the cracks. Repair any leakages. Look for and repair shingles on time and properly. Damp can ruin the construction and design of the house. If unattended, humidity can lead to growth of fungi. Also this will increase the chance of rodents sneaking in your home and you wouldn’t like that obviously!

Look for faulty electronics and wires. If left untouched, faulty wires may create dangers that could cost you or your family their lives. Look for a skilled contractor and allow him to mend all your wiring and electronics. Make sure you don’t forget to test the batteries of emergency alarms and security systems.

Another thing which can ruin your home if left unattended is plumbing. Inspect for leaking pipes from the top to the bottom of your house and get rid of any rubbish which has accumulated in the gutters or pipes.

I also advise you to call your HVAC manager annually to provide you annual maintenance of your residence.

Repairing your appliances will take most of your time and concentration. Especially water heaters, refridgerators, air conditioning and other electrical systems. You can do each appliance separately rather than doing them all at the same time. This way you only have to concentrate on one thing at a time and this will also help your cash flow.

When you are looking at home maintenance, give the experts in home repair

If you are considering installing security cameras on or around your home, there are several questions that should be answered before turning a single screw, drilling a single hole, or buying a single camera. If you are on a limited budget, it is a good idea to decide ahead of time exactly what your concerns are and limit the number of cameras to 4, as there is usually a jump in price between 4 and 5 cameras. This jump in price is because digital security video recorders, or DVRs, come in 4 channel, 8 channel and 16 channel configurations. I you feel you need more than four cameras, it is usually better to go ahead and install four cameras using a DVR that is easily upgradable. When this is the case, we recommend using a scalable PC-Based DVR system, and splitting the cost of additional cameras over time. After all, some protection and deterrence is better than none. Just be careful to purchase a DVR that is easily upgradable.

If you are limited to four cameras, you will want to do everything possible to combine camera angles to cover as many problem areas at once. This of course means wider angle lenses which will give you less detail. However, if you use cameras with adjustable, or varifocal, lenses, you can later adjust those camera angles to get better clarity and detail as you add cameras later on.

We recommend covering each entrance as the basis for any home security system. This means a camera at the front door, a camera at the back door and one at the garage door. Because we want to maximize the viewing area, you may find the following tips helpful.

Always use outdoor cameras to watch your entrances so you can use the excess viewing area to watch the perimeter of your home.

Place your front door camera in a corner facing away from the home. This allows you to see the face of the person standing at your door, and will likely also allow you to see part of your front lawn or walkway leading to your door.

Place the backdoor camera close enough to the door to see detail, but far enough away that you can also watch part of the yard for safety reasons. This usually means about 10-12 feet away from the door.

Any cameras that are watching entrances should be placed on the side of the door that opens in order to see the person entering or exiting and so the door does not block the view.

Use a single camera to cover your garage door and your driveway.

Use infrared cameras with enough power to cover the area you are watching. If your driveway is 40 feet long, do not use a 25 foot infrared camera. The money you save will lead to inferior results.

If you find that you have covered the recommended entrances and exits and still have room in the budget for another camera or two, you should consider coverage for areas of the home that provide risk. Your outdoor air conditioner is loaded with valuable copper pipes and is a common target for thieves and criminals, consider covering it and part of your yard with an armored infrared camera. If any of the windows in your home have shrubbery that is not directly up to the window, consider covering these areas as burglars and thieves like to use the shrubbery as cover while they work on breaking into the home. This coverage is also useful if you have teenagers that like to sneak out at night.

Interior cameras can be useful if you have baby sitters, house sitters, or are away from home a lot and want to check in over the internet, but in general, they can be saved for a later date if the budget does not allow for it. Of course, if you purchased the right DVR, you can always upgrade later as you see fit by adding indoor cameras or covert cameras.

In general, we recommend initially going with fewer cameras than you think you will need. Chances are that once you have some experience watching your home on camera you will identify some areas you want covered that you may not have thought of before. This is pretty common, so we find it’s a good idea to leave a channel or two open with no cameras installed so you can cover those areas later on as budget and need allows.

Alex Underwood is Director of Product Development at CCTVDynamics.
